“For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the Lord blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.” Exodus 20:11
Hello Ella! This is a question that could take a really long answer. I will try to be brief, however.
First, you can study out the Sabbath. I seem to learn more each time I study it! Second, I believe there can be some individual variances, but God does set forth some parameters in the Bible, so it is good to study it out.
For me personally, I believe preparation for the Sabbath is very important with keeping the Sabbath. If I am not prepared to meet with my Lord mentally, or my home is a bit chaotic, or my activities are not thought out, I may create an atmosphere that is not ready for the Sabbath and unable to keep it because of my own lack of organization. When we go on a trip, visit family… whatever, we make plans, we think about what we will eat, where we will go, and pack accordingly. I believe getting ready for the Sabbath helps us to enjoy the Sabbath and helps us to be more restful in our minds and in our hearts. We are able to focus on our Saviour rather than the fact that we cannot find anything to wear because we didn’t get the laundry done.
I know this was pretty vague, but I do hope it is helpful! May God be with you as you seek to learn more in this area! And feel free to ask more questions if you need more assistance!
How do you keep the sabbath the way God intended for us to.
