The father and the mother are to place themselves decidedly on the Lord’s side. It is their privilege to bring light and joy and peace into the home circle. They are to exert an influence which shows that they are guided and controlled by the principles of heaven. They are to draw in even cords. Their every act is to be in harmony with heaven.

**Looking for a Bible Reading Plan for younger children? Here’s the Adventist Junior Youth Bible Year Plan. It is a four -year plan that divides the Bible readings into themes by chapters, such as Prophecy, Praises and Peace.
**The Encounter Series is an AY/Pathfinder Club reading plan that works very well as a Bible Curriculum for middle and high school aged students. The series is a four-year plan that combines reading the Bible with the corresponding Spirit of Prophecy books. The series follows the following outline:
Christ The Way – The four Gospels and Desire of Ages
Christ The Church– Acts to Revelation and Acts of the Apostles, The Great Controversy
Christ Our Redemption – First half of the Old Testament and Patriarchs and Prophets
Christ Our Hope – Last half of the Old Testament and Prophets and Kings

Satan deceives many with the plausible theory that God’s love for His people is so great that He will excuse sin in them; he represents that while the threatenings of God’s word are to serve a certain purpose in His moral government, they are never to be literally fulfilled. But in all His dealings with His creatures God has maintained the principles of righteousness by revealing sin in its true character—by demonstrating that its sure result is misery and death. The unconditional pardon of sin never has been, and never will be. Such pardon would show the abandonment of the principles of righteousness, which are the very foundation of the government of God. It would fill the unfallen universe with consternation. God has faithfully pointed out the results of sin, and if these warnings were not true, how could we be sure that His promises would be fulfilled? That so-called benevolence which would set aside justice is not benevolence but weakness.
Patriarchs and Prophets, 522
During the first three years of the life of Samuel the prophet, his mother carefully taught him to distinguish between good and evil. By every familiar object surrounding him, she sought to lead his thoughts up to the Creator. In fulfillment of her vow to give her son to the Lord, with great self-denial she placed him under the care of Eli the high priest, to be trained for service in the house of God. Though Samuel’s youth was passed at the tabernacle devoted to the worship of God, he was not free from evil influences or sinful example. The sons of Eli feared not God, nor honored their father; but Samuel did not seek their company nor follow their evil ways. His early training led him to choose to maintain his Christian integrity. What a reward was Hannah‘s! And what an encouragement to faithfulness is her example!
