“A heavy responsibility rests upon you. In view of this, how careful should you be in all your words and acts. What kind of seed are you sowing in the hearts of your children? The reaping time—oh! remember, the reaping time is not far distant. Sow no foul seed. Satan is ready to do that work. Sow only clean, pure seed.”

“Children are sometimes tempted to chafe under restraint; but in afterlife they will bless their parents for the faithful care and strict watchfulness that guarded and guided them in their years of inexperience.”

Motivation Monday

“Children as well as parents have important duties in the home. They should be taught that they are a part of the home firm. They are fed and clothed and loved and cared for, and they should respond to these many mercies by bearing their share of the home burdens and bringing all the happiness possible into the family of which they are members.”

Mrs. Manoah’s Sunshine

The inquiry of every father and mother should be, “What shall we do unto the child that shall be born unto us?” The effect of prenatal influences has been by many lightly regarded; but the instruction sent from heaven to those Hebrew parents, and twice repeated in the most explicit and solemn manner, shows how this matter is looked upon by our Creator. Patriarchs and Prophets

Hopefully, every parent wants to give their child the best start in life. Manoah and his wife wanted to give Samson the best start in life. When Mrs. Manoah learned that she would have a child, she asked “What shall we do unto the child that shall be born unto us?”

The counsel back was to:

1. Not eat anything unclean

2. Not to drink any strong drink or wine

3. Observe all that God had commanded her

And, after practicing all those wonderful eating and drinking habits as an expectant mommy…continue to follow them long after the child/children have grown.

She may not eat of any thing that cometh of the vine, neither let her drink wine or strong drink, nor eat any unclean thing: all that I commanded her let her observe.-Judges 13:14

Motivation Monday

“Home should be a place where cheerfulness, courtesy, and love abide; and where these graces dwell, there will abide happiness and peace. Troubles may invade, but these are the lot of humanity. Let patience, gratitude, and love keep sunshine in the heart, though the day may be ever so cloudy. In such homes angels of God abide.”

Mothers, Be Careful

Mothers, be careful of your precious moments. Remember that your children are passing forward where they may be beyond your educating and training. You may be to them the very model of all that is good and pure and noble. Identify your interest with theirs.

If you fail in everything else , be thorough, be efficient here. If your children come forth from the home training pure and virtuous, if they fill the least and the lowest place in God’s great plan of good for the world, your life can never be called a failure and can never be reviewed with remorse.   —The Adventist Home, p. 267

Motivation Monday

Fathers and mothers, however pressing your business, do not fail to gather your family around God’s altar. Ask for the guardianship of holy angels in your home. Remember that your dear ones are exposed to temptations. Daily annoyances beset the path of young and old. Those who would live patient, loving, cheerful lives must pray. Only by receiving constant help from God can we gain the victory over self.
