Motivation Monday

Let praise and thanksgiving be expressed in song. When tempted, instead of giving utterance to our feelings, let us by faith lift up a song of thanksgiving to God.

We praise Thee, O God, for the Son of Thy love,—
For Jesus who died and is now gone above.

We praise Thee, O God, for Thy Spirit of light,
Who has shown us our Saviour, and scattered our night.

All glory and praise to the Lamb that was slain,
Who has borne all our sins, and has cleansed every stain.

All glory and praise to the God of all grace,
Who has bought us, and sought us, and guided our ways.

Revive us again; fill each heart with Thy love;
May each soul be rekindled with fire from above.

Chorus: Hallelujah! Thine the glory, Hallelujah! amen; Hallelujah! Thine the glory, Revive us again.

Song is a weapon that we can always use against discouragement. As we thus open the heart to the sunlight of the Saviour’s presence, we shall have health and His blessing.

The Sunshine of Courtesy

Above all things else, let parents surround their children with an atmosphere of cheerfulness, courtesy, and love.   Ministry of Healing pg. 386

Yesterday, I took my younger children to a swimming party. While waiting in line, a mother, father and two little children passed in front of me as I waited at the desk. The mother said to the older child (about 5 years old), “Say excuse me honey.” The little girl happily said “Excuse me”.

That may sound trivial to some, but I thought that was the sweetest kindest thing! First that the mom took the time to say excuse me herself and then kindly had her child say it as they passed. Beautiful.

Too many times at stores, I have had people step right in front of me as though I was not there. It is a very rude practice.

So, I experienced another “Momma’s Sunshine” in my own life yesterday and thought I would share that with you.

I guess “Momma’s Sunshine” can affect adults too.
Hebrews 10:24
And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works

How to Spread Sunshine to Your Children

1. Give a look of approval. Look at your child with an “I am so pleased with what you did”!

2. Give a word of encouragement. “I am so proud of you!” “I knew you could do it!”

3. Give commendation. “You are so smart!” “Wow! You made that!”

” The Comforter that Christ promised to send in His name abides with us.  In the way that leads to the City of God there are no difficulties which those who trust in Him may not overcome.  There are no dangers which they may not escape.  There is not a sorrow, not a grievance, not a human weakness, for which He has not provided a remedy.

The widow of Zarephath’s Sunshine

And she went and did according to the saying of Elijah: and she, and he, and her house, did eat many days. -I Kings 17:15

Here is what I see as sunshine from the widow of Zarephath:

1.Her obedience kept her and her son alive during a famine.

2.She was a “doer” of the word…she made a cake for Elijah first.

3.When faced with a decision, she chose to live by faith and not by signt…I mean really…she gave to Elijah first…during a famine.

And let see…how many of us would give our last during a recession? Would we continue to return tithe and offering during a recession? Would we host a dinner during a recession?…To me, that is what this widow woman did.

She gave what she had and brought many days of sunshine and life to her home.

Her meal was not running over, but it did not run out!!! Her obedience made the difference between life and death for her and her son.

In this poverty-stricken home the famine pressed sore, and the pitifully meager fare seemed about to fail. The coming of Elijah on the very day when the widow feared that she must give up the struggle to sustain life tested to the utmost her faith in the power of the living God to provide for her necessities. But even in her dire extremity she bore witness to her faith by a compliance with the request of the stranger who was asking her to share her last morsel with him. -Patriarchs and Prophets
O the difference obedience makes!!

Motivation Monday

“The fact that he [Christ] was without fault in his home life makes him a pattern for all children and youth. He was no less the Son of God in his quiet life at home, in faithfully serving his parents at Nazareth, than while healing the sick, and in raising the dead.

“Important lessons can be here drawn for children and youth, that they cannot be employed in a more noble work than in performing their duty to their parents. They are no less engaged in the work of God, acknowledged and recorded by the heavenly angels as such, in faithful, filial obedience, than in a more public and more responsible position of later days. Youth can serve God as faithfully in the submission of their wills to their parents, and in the filial discharge of the every-day duties of life, as in the house of God.”

“The sower soweth the word.” Here is presented the great principle which should underlie all educational work. “The seed is the word of God.” But in too many schools of our day God’s word is set aside. Other subjects occupy the mind. The study of infidel authors holds a large place in the educational system. Skeptical sentiments are interwoven in the matter placed in school books. Scientific research becomes misleading, because its discoveries are misinterpreted and perverted. The word of God is compared with the supposed teachings of science, and is made to appear uncertain and untrustworthy. Thus the seeds of doubt are planted in the minds of the youth, and in time of temptation they spring up. When faith in God’s word is lost, the soul has no guide, no safeguard. The youth are drawn into paths which lead away from God and from everlasting life.
