The Beginning of “Momma’s Sunshine”

We are blessed to have  Tonya from Momma’s Sunshine  share with us today.    Thank you so much Tonya, for sharing notes and thoughts from your encouraging blog with us!

Today, I was listening to a co-worker talk about her children and their not so great traits of character. As I listened, I had a thought. I shared that thought with her and this is what I said…”You are the sunshine in the home”

I really believe to a large degree a child’s happiness or unhappiness stems from “Momma”.

You know the saying, “If Momma ain’t happy then ain’t nobody happy”

After getting home, I thought “Hey, I could blog about tips and ways and stuff on expressing and sharing sunshine in the home”.

So, here I am again in blogland.

Sunshine Tip #1—-Believe that YOU are the sunshine in your home…Not the television, toys or Xbox.  Radiate sunshine. Take care of yourself first. By this I mean, make sure you eat a hearty breakfast, exercise and dress neatly and nicely. Spend time in God’s Word as the Source of all your sunshine. Remember that he who hath the Son hath life. Share your life with your family and friends. Be a blessing!

“Never underrate the importance of little things. Little things supply the actual discipline of life. It is by them that the soul is trained that it may grow into the likeness of Christ, or bear the likeness of evil. God helps us to cultivate habits of thought, word, look, and action that will testify to all about us that we have been with Jesus and learned of Him!”

A Christian in Private Life

Guest Post:  We thank Barbara for sharing this post with us.

“He who is a Christian in his private life:

Who daily surrenders self,

Who is sincere in purpose,

Pure in thought,

Meek under Provocation,

And faithful in that which is least;

Who represents the character of Christ
in the home circle-

Such a one may in the sight of God,

Be even more precious than the world-famous missionary or martyr.”

“The Christian alone can make the right use of knowledge. Science, in order to be fully appreciated, must be viewed from a religious standpoint. Then all will worship the God of science. The heart which is ennobled by the grace of God can best comprehend the real value of education. The attributes of God as seen in His created works can be appreciated only as we have a knowledge of the Creator.” Mind, Character and Personality, vol. 1, p. 16

“In the highest sense the work of education and the work of redemption are one, for in education, as in redemption, “other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.” “It was the good pleasure of the Father that in Him should all the fullness dwell.” 1 Corinthians 3:11; Colossians 1:19.

Under changed conditions, true education is still conformed to the Creator’s plan, the plan of the Eden school. Adam and Eve received instruction through direct communion with God; we behold the light of the knowledge of His glory in the face of Christ.”

“While there are weighty responsibilities devolving upon the parents to guard carefully the future happiness and interests of their children, it is also their duty to make home as attractive as possible. This is of far greater consequence than to acquire estates and money.

Home must not lack sunshine. The home feeling should be kept alive in the hearts of the children, that they may look back upon the home of their childhood as a place of peace and happiness next to heaven. Then as they come to maturity, they should in their turn try to be a comfort and blessing to their parents.”
