Fun Links for February

Let’s start February with some fun links for your homeschool!

The Great Backyard Bird Count takes place February 18-21.  Why not use the Adventurer Feathered Friends award and the Pathfinder Birds and Birds-Advanced honors to turn the bird count into a fun unit study?

Do you have the Uncle Arthur Bible Story books?  Here’s a great free resource to accompany the series.   This two-part curriculum is designed for classroom use, but is a great source of ideas for creative worships and Bible lessons.  It is designed to be an 8 year program.  DOWNLOAD NOTE: The documents are large, the first set is 293 pages!

This South Pacific Division elementary Bible curriculum was developed by and for Pacific Island Adventist schools. This teacher’s guide includes lesson or story plans to accompany Uncle Arthur’s Bible Story series, Volumes 1-6. Concise, clear, adaptable, utilizing multiple intelligences, this Adventist religious education resource is free of copyright, ready for use or translation. Motivation Monday

“Next to the Bible, nature is to be our great lesson book. To the little child, not yet capable of learning from the printed page or of being introduced to the routine of the schoolroom, nature presents an unfailing source of instruction and delight.”

Curriculum Reviews

With the abundance of curriculum available to us, it is often hard to know with reading the little snippets from catalogs or websites… if a particular curriculum will work for you and your child. Also, you may wonder what the materials present from a religious standpoint. Sometimes products sound good, but are a lot more work than you realized. Purchasing items that won’t work for you can be costly.

In the curriculum reviews, we share items that have worked well with following True Education principles. We share details, when we can, that will help you see if this curriculum is going to be a good fit for you and your child. Click the AHE logo below and you will be taken directly to the Curriculum Reviews page on the Adventist Home Educator website.

Motivation Monday

“The word “education” means more than a course of study at college. Education begins with the infant in its mother’s arms. While the mother is molding and fashioning the character of her children, she is educating them.”

Motivation Monday

“Let fathers, mothers, and the educators in our schools remember that it is a higher branch of education to teach children obedience. Altogether too little importance is attached to this line of education.”
